Minions!

Question!

Please bear with me and listen: I'm just going to go right ahead and say that I will be presenting at a local college next Saturday, the 18th.  While I am not as nervous about this, I guess I still have reason to be.  I found out my presentation will be televised live throughout the state to at least five different schools -- to gather and watch me speak.  I found this out rather last minute, and I didn't volunteer to do this, so just as I was feeling confident I now have more to be concerned about!  I really shouldn't sweat this, but it is a bit of a big deal.

This is where YOU come in.

There are two things that I'd like input on.  You may choose to answer both or just one, but I'd really like to have a suggestion either way about something.

1.  What to wear.  I have been working on a lot of DIY clothing in my spare time throughout the year.  While I haven't really had any exact results just yet due to time restraints, I have made some progress.  Right now, I'm working on a punk skirt that will come with suspenders.  I will probably wear it with a white dress shirt and perhaps make my hair super messy.   But there is also a chance that I will not finish the skirt or suspenders in time.  Should I go casual or not?  Fancy?  There is no strict dress code for the college as far as I know but I just want your input.  I'm very tempted to go a little more Gothy than I normally would at regular school because that might be interesting for the people watching me?

2.  Extra art.   I have already done a few examples but I want to do more things.  Specifically, I want to get into the minds of a regular person.  What art might they want to see?  What art might you want to see?  What should I do?  What will appeal to them, or get them excited about the program?  These are all very crucial points to me.

HERE IS SOME EXAMPLE ART FOR YOUR VIEWING:
RIGHT CLICK AND OPEN IN NEW TAB OR WINDOW (VIEW IMAGE) TO SEE FULL THING.  ALMOST ALL OF THESE ARE HI-RES.
Brandon Lee Tribute (took a little over a minute -- his face  is from memory).  The first characters you see is his full name in Chinese and below the characters read "angel" in Cantonese.

Speed drawing of a rose.  Incomplete.  Screen shot.  Took about five minutes.

Some fancy street lamp thingy with cool purple background and outlined in white.  Took about eight minutes.

Lulu!  That is all. (Click on her to see her better!)

Yin-Yang symbol: took a handful of minutes, maybe five at most.  One of my first creations in the program.

Another thing: one of my teachers looked over a brief presentation that I did today in front of her.  She is wowed by my work -- I think I'm pretty mediocre to be honest.

For the curious, the name of the program I'm presenting on is called MyPaint.  You can download it for free.  I highly recommend that people look into it -- after all, sillies, why do you think I'm going to present on it?

Personally if I was in your position I would want to wear something that makes me feel completely comfortable with myself. Being in that situation is going to make you nervous, worrying about what you're wearing is going to add to that. :3

@ Sary: Good call! I think the logic was escaping when the panic flooded my head. Comfortable clothing is usually my go-to option under most stressful situations. Perhaps I'll come up with an outfit that will still leave an impression but still feel comfortable? Will post later.

Definitely wear something that will make you feel comfortable and confident! That is excellent advice. Also, go artsy but also at least a bit professional. When giving a presentation, I think a professional edge is always a good idea. You never know who will be watching, and what opportunities it could open up for you. Don't don a full-on suit if it will make you mentally uncomfortable (especially since it's a college presentation and an artistic one at that), but don't go too comfortable in the physical, sweat-pants-and-flip-flops sense. ;)

Also, do a dress rehearsal of your presentation in what you are actually going to wear a couple of days beforehand. It really does help you get a grasp on your presence ahead of time. Especially if you do it in front of a volunteer or two.
